Why We Shop: Getting a Grip on Consumerism

Great article on ways to help stop the rampant consumerism.  I used to go every Tuesday to Best Buy to take a look at the new releases (CDs and DVDs).  Most of the time I didn’t plan on buying anything, but once I was there I felt this overwhelming urge to do so and often did buy a CD.  I haven’t gone in the past three months and my bank balance thanks me for it.

Shopping for CDs and DVDs was, for me, “short-term happiness.”   Once I purchased the items I would watch the movie once or just add the music to my ever increasing iTunes library.  The shelf clutter decrease is a side benefit.
